Cassidy promises to make amends after swerving Ghanaians at Accra Nightlife Awards+ Full list of winners

American rapper Cassidy on Saturday night disappointed hundreds of fans when he failed to show up for the maiden Accra Night Life Awards which, after several postponements, came off at the Event Haven, inside the Accra International Trade Fair Centre.

The rapper, born Barry Adrian Reese, who was billed as the headline act for the awards which sought to award creators and contributors to Accra’s vibrant nightlife, did not turn up for the event.

The Hotel hit singer had Tweeted on February 7 that: “I would be live in Accra Ghana for the rlg Accra Night Life Awards on Feb 16th @ the Event Haven powered by EDGE 53. #Africa #DaHustla”, a confirmation that he will be performing at the event.

Sources close to the event organizers had also confirmed that the rapper, after agreeing and receiving an appearance fee of about US$10, 000, would be arriving in Ghana last Thursday for the nominations party ahead of the main event.

The rapper is reported to have later told organizers of the awards, Edge53, that he would not be able to arrive in Ghana on the agreed date due to some personal issues but assured he would be in Ghana by Friday, a day before the show. But turned out to be a grand deception.

Explaining why Cassidy failed to show up for the awards, Yaw Amponsah Debrah, Founder of the awards, told Myjoyonline.com in an interview Monday that the Philadelphia based rapper was not able to arrive in Ghana due to “health issues,” and that “he was not fit for the flight” to Ghana.

According to him, his outfit’s interaction with the management of the artiste indicates that “Cassidy still wants to perform in Ghana.”

The founder of the awards said the I'm A Hustla singer has suggested a new show and date be fixed to enable him fulfill his contractual obligation.

Although Cassidy failed to turn up, some local acts including R2Bees, Chris Waddle, and Cartoon staged thrilling performances to save the show.

Reggie Rockstone left the awards with the highest number of plagues as his facilities Grand Papazz and Rockstones Office won in almost all categories it was nominated for.

His outfits won in the Best LoungeBest Bar, and Best Nightclubcategories.

Host of Drive Time on Joy FM, Kwabena Anokye Adisi, popularly known as Bola Ray, was crowned Best Event Mc.
