Ghana: President Mahama meets Cardinal Peter Turkson


President John Dramani Mahama on Tuesday granted audience to His Eminence, Peter Cardinal Appiah Turkson, President of the Pontifical Council for Justice and Peace at the Vatican.
The meeting, which took place at the Flagstaff House in Accra, was behind closed doors, spokesperson for the President, John Jinapor announced on facebook.

Cardinal Turkson, a former Roman Catholic Church Archbishop of Cape Coast, was appointed to his new position by Pope Benedict XVI on 24 October 2009.
He was elevated to the cardinalate by Pope John Paul II in 2003, and is widely regarded as a likely candidate to succeed Pope Benedict XVI.
