30 arrests of prostitution in raids on 6 brothels opposite middle school in Shanghai

Police in Shanghai arrested over 30 people in a raid Wednesday on six brothels operating across the road from a middle school, reports the Shanghai Daily.

The brothels, or, as the Shanghai Daily rather charmingly insists on calling them: 'massage parlours', were situated less than 10 metres from the entrance to Pujiang No 2 Middle School. According to the Daily "many students have to pass by the businesses on their way to and from the school". Gosh.

An undercover reporter from Eastday.com visited one of the brothels (the tough life of a journalist) and said a woman there said she would charge him 100 yuan to have sex with her, 50 yuan extra if he didn't want to wear a condom. Ironically, the woman reportedly told her fake client that: "Police have never checked here and they never will."
