The campus which will be one of its kind in West Africa would be known as Lancaster University Ghana and would be committed to produce graduates who have skills and knowledge to meet Ghana’s industrial, societal and governmental needs.
Speaking at a news conference in Accra, Mr Ravghav Lal, the Project Director of TNE said the University is currently working with the National Accreditation Board to secure accreditation to start admitting students in October.
He said the Ghana campus would allow students across Africa to access the University’s academic excellence in teaching and research on the continent.
Mr Lal said students would be able to choose from a range of undergraduate courses in management, business, international relations, computer science, law and psychology and its high acclaimed Global MBA among other post graduate and foundation programme.
Professor Mark E. Smith, Vice Chancellor of the University noted that the Ghana Campus would contribute to increase the pool of internationally educated young people ready to take their places in developing and growing the Ghanaian and wider African economy.
He said the University would join institutions of higher education to enhance Ghana’s reputation as an educational hub for West Africa.
Prof Smith said Lancaster is highly regarded for the quality of education it provides as well as the thriving alumni network of more than 100,000 in 148 countries worldwide.
“Our new campus offer students a different learning experience with the future career benefits of gaining a globally recognised Lancaster degree,” he said.
Mr Rakesh Wahi, Founder of TNE said “the campus is our first education venture in West Africa” and shared the group vision of creating a network of branch campus experience in Africa, through quality teaching, state of the art infrastructure, research led curriculum and innovation in delivery of the curriculum.
Lancaster University has a long history of working with universities and local communities across sub Saharan Africa and has considerable expertise and experience in setting up successful teaching partnership around the world.
