I have extend hand of friendship to Mahama – Akufo-Addo

Few minutes after the Supreme Court judges made the assertions on the petitioners grouse over the 2012 presidential election and intermittently declared John Dramani Mahama as the valid elected President of the Republic of Ghana, Nana Akufo-Addo in an address made a soul lifting statement, which has become the signature tune of radio stations.

Nana Addo who made it known to the press that he has taken in good faith, the verdict of the Supreme Court, even though he did not totally agree with their judgment, said he was more interested in the progress of the country.

He continued: “I have called President Mahama and congratulate him. I also appeal to the supporters of our party to accept the verdict of the court. Even in disappointment, we can take pride in the way we have conducted ourselves. Even in disappointment, we can take pride that the NPP has once again lead the way in deepening Ghana’s democracy”.

He added: “Everything in my bones, in my upbringing and what I have done with my life thus far makes it imperative that I accept the decision made by the highest court of the land.

For the sake of our country, we must imbibe on the path that builds rather than destroy. It is now up to all Ghanaians to put the dispute behind us, to iron out our differences, ease the tension amongst us and come together to build our country”.
