The spokesman of South Africa Police Service, Lt.-Col. Mzukisi Fatyela made this known during a media chat in Johannesburg on Wednesday.
Fatyela said Mandla is being investigated in a case of “pointing a firearm at a man in Eastern Cape on Tuesday.”
According to Fetyela, a man who accused Mandela of threatening him with a gun opened the case at the Madeira police station on Tuesday.
“Mandela allegedly pointed a gun at the man and threatened to shoot him during an argument along Nelson Mandela drive, on Tuesday evening.
“He will be facing charges of attempted murder, pointing of firearm and assault,” Fatyela said.
The spokesman, however, said no arrest had been made so far in relation to the incident.
