Ghana earns US$468m from exports of crude oil

The country has realized 468 million dollars from its share of crude oil exports from January to September this year.

This is the earning from the exports of almost 1 million barrels of crude from the Jubilee field. The amount was contained in the petroleum receipts and distribution report for third quarter of 2013.

The amount is a summation of earnings from all the three quarters for this year. The petroleum receipts and distribution report also revealed that country sold each barrel of crude oil for 111 dollars 65 cents for lifting almost one million barrels in August.

The report however revealed that Ghana's earnings from the crude exports declined marginally between July and September, compared to what it secured in the previous quarters.

The state for instance secured 76 million dollars in the third quarter, compared to 212 million dollars in the second quarter and 181 million dollars in quarter one.

As at August this year, the country has been able to save close to 280 million dollars from crude oil revenue for the first half of this year.
