Ghana Prez Mahama Officially Relocates To Flag Staff House

Government has announced that President John Dramani Mahama will on Thursday officially move from the Castle-Osu to the Flag Staff House, the multi-million edifice which had been left for over four years since the late President Mills declined to relocate there upon the advice of his security chiefs.

It was originally the official residence of the first president of Ghana, Dr. Kwame Nkrumah. It later came to be used as Army headquarters. This building was then demolished and a new 'Jubilee House' built to house the Presidency. It was meant to replace the Osu Castle offices of the president.

A satement signed by Information Minister Mahama Ayariga said "there will be a short ceremony to commemorate the movement at 10 am at the Flag Staff House" on Thursday, 7th February, 2013.
