Egyptian players promised $1m each if they can beat Ghana and qualify for Brazil 2014

A mouthwatering $1million is being dangled before each player of the Egyptian national team to defeat Ghana’s Black Stars in their November 19 date.

But before they can smile to the bank, the Egyptians will have to overturn the 1-6 deficit in their second leg World Cup play-off next month.

It has emerged from the corridors of the Pharaohs that the team’s sponsor, Emirates Airlines, has put $23m at the disposal of the team to conquer the four time African champions.

Former Asante Kotoko winger, Francis Akwafo, currently plying his trade with an Egyptian top flight side Al Nasr Benghazi, revealed on Oman Sports, “The Egyptians have been promised $1m each by Emirates Airlines to beat the Black Stars in the return leg.”

Akwafo, however, mentioned that the Egyptian soccer fans have thrown their hands up in despair, following the 6-1 Baba Yara conquest and that should they win, a wish they consider a remote possibility then, that would be a bonus.

He denied speculations of a planned attack on Ghanaian residents in Egypt as a result of the Pharaohs’ October 15 debacle.

It has also emerged that the Egyptians are lining up a series of international friendlies, notable among them is a game against the Super Eagles of Nigeria, to sharpen all edges ahead of the return leg.

The Bob Bradley men have failed to make a World Cup appearance since 1990 when Italy hosted the world’s biggest sports festival.

Meanwhile, the Egyptian league which has been on recess due to the political unrest, is set to resume on November 23.
