Ghana: Man drowns as he attempt to save a boy at Last Hour Beach in Takoradi

Water Boat Bike
A young man believed to be in his late twenties drowned at the Last Hour Beach, a popular seafront resort in Takoradi when a water bike he was riding capsized after running into a high tide on Sunday.

He was among hundreds of Easter holidaymakers who had thronged the beach to have fun.
The incident happened at about 3:30 pm.

The young man, who is yet to be identified was said to have attempted to save a little boy who was on the bike with him when they met the high tide.

Eyewitnesses told Graphic Online that the high current flipped the life-jacket he was wearing open when the bike capsized.

They said he initially attempted to help the little boy he was ridding the water-bike with but was not able to do so and when the tides finally settled, it was only the little boy and the bike that emerged.
The little boy was saved.

A police source at the Takoradi District Command confirmed the story to Graphic Online and said the body of the victim was yet to be washed ashore.
