The body of Adarkwa was found hanging on a nylon skipping rope on an orange tree in his house at Odorkor in Accra.
According to the owner of the house, Mr Donkor Boadu, Adarkwa did not show any sign of depression when he was last seen about 6 p.m. last Sunday pacing the compound.
Mr Boadu said he found the body hanging about 6 a.m. and could not come to terms as to why Adarkwa took that action, while his two teenage daughters, aged 16 and 18, were asleep.
Adarkwa is said to have made frantic efforts to save his over 23-year-old marriage and might have resorted to suicide after his efforts were unsuccessful.
“I am aware elders of his church, the Power Resurrection Ministries, had made several attempts to have the wife rescind her threat of divorce prior to the woman filing the case in court,” Mr Boadu said.
Mr Boadu, who described Adarkwa as a peace-loving person, said, “I have never seen him engaged in any form of confrontation with anyone for the over two years that he has been living in my house. He was very peaceful and always shied away from negative activities,”
When the Daily Graphic visited the scene about 11 a.m. yesterday, the deceased’s room was locked, as, according to the landlord, Adarkwa’s mother-in-law had come to take the two teenage daughters to Dansoman, also in Accra.
Scores of residents were seen visiting the scene of the incident in their attempt to satisfy their curiosity.
The Crime Officer of the Odorkor Police, DSP Osei Ahogah, confirming the incident to the Daily Graphic, said the body had been deposited at the Police Hospital mortuary pending investigations.
